Recently, a CBS news correspondent reported on the relatively unknown fact that the hard drive in a digital copier will retain most of the information that passes through it. Basically, this means that there are copies of the emails, scanned documents, printed documents, and fax documents that were processed by the copier stored on the hard drive long after you use it. In most cases this information is benign and not of particular interest, however in a lot of cases, the information could be much more important. Have you ever made a copy of your social security card or credit card? Scanned or copied a check? Printed a bank statement? Faxed part of your medical file to a doctor? The potential for this information to get into the hands of someone that might use it against you or for their financial gain cannot be ignored. The good news is that this information can be rendered harmless and impossible to read very easily. In some cases, the information can be destroyed even as it's being created. For more information on how to delete this information from your current devices or to proactively protect yourself from having a serious issue regarding this information, click here.

  Thinking Green Ideas

CEO concern #7 from the Gartner Report titled "CEO Concerns 2009" states, "green isn't going away." It goes on to state that CEOs "believe it is a useful part of reducing the break-even point of the business."  Going green isn't just a way to help the environment but it's also a way to cut costs, big time.  A recent study by Oracle states that the (4) companies it surveyed that began using Oracle's Content Management software saved $1.2 million by reducing printing and shipping cost.  To request more information about TGI's environmental initiatives, click here. To read more about environmental initiatives, click here.

  Managed Print Services

The benefits to the client of a managed print services program are easy to enumerate.  The CFOs love to see the huge decrease in TCO, the IT folks love the fact they no longer need to repair printers and buy supplies, the CIOs love the fact that a comprehensive MPS programs not only increases transparency into what they're printing and how but also helps him/her with their green initiatives (which are not going away).  A recent Wall Street Journal article states that Proctor and Gamble has reduced their printer output by 3 million sheets per year and has achieved a 40% reduction in energy use by implementing a comprehensive MPS program.  To request information about managed print services, click here.  To read more about TCO, click here.

  Document Management

Sound business decisions require information.  The speed at which the decision is made means everything to the outcome.  Whether it's an irate customer, an overdue invoice or a purchasing conflict, efficient access to all the necessary information is key.  The problem most businesses face is that the information they are trying to gather is fragmented across the entire organization between email, file folders, hard copy files, accounting systems, customer databases, etc.  Trying to find all the information required to make a sound business decision could take hours or even days resulting in upset customers, late charges, and unnecessary purchasing costs.  Allow us to show you how we have helped ourselves as well as countless clients implement solutions that centralize information and enable decisions to be made at the speed of business.  To request information about enterprise content management, click here.  To read more about document management and improving business process, click here.
